School Supplies Collection

• Starting with our July 12th general meeting we will be collecting school supplies for K-12. Collections will continue for 3 meetings, July 12th, July 26th and August 9.  Donations will go directly to LCPS Supply Closet.  The “Supply Closet” runs all year round, similar to a food bank where families can come and get needed supplies for their kids, no questions asked.  Currently the “Supply Closet”  is in need of the below items.  Please consider donating.  If you don’t wish to shop you can give a check donation made out to Las Cruces Public Schools and in the memo write “Family Support Center Liaisons”.
   

  Supply List:

  Box of 8 or 24 crayons
  Pair of child-safe scissors
  Box of colored pencils
  Box of 8-count washable markers
  Blue or black pens
  Pencil Bags
  Pencils with erasers (mechanical or standard)
  Backpacks (please make sure all security tags have been removed)

• Feminine Products Needed:

  Pads (all sizes)
  Hygiene wipes

Mission Statement:  This group was formed out of a necessity to keep our school boards blue and to prevent ideologies, such as book banning, from happening in our Las Cruces school system.  Our mandate is to support, in whatever way is needed, those school board candidates who support our democratic values and who support diverse and open learning in our schools.  In addition to supporting candidates with our values we will fight against any and all policies introduced that do not foster a welcoming environment for our students.

This group meets as needed to support the above mission statement.
