Project Jupiter Update
- 6 Panelists confirmed for September 3 Education night – see poster at top of page; elected official’s special invite will be sent 8/24
- Update on suggestion made at 8/9 meeting to ask county commissioners for equal time as Oracle had to do a presentation on “why we oppose Project Jupiter” – met with 2 county commissioners and they open to the suggestion – waiting to hear back from them
- DUE TO NMSC DECISION made 8/23 – the Air Quality Permit Hearing, Monday 9/14, 9:00 AM Sunland Park Multi-Generational Center IS ON PAUSE/HALTED/DELAYED – we will keep you updated!
- Project Jupiter Table at 10/17 Hands Off Our Vote Rally
- Working on 8 asks to Get Daisy Maldonado Elected
- Daisy will have more yard signs at 9/13 Meeting – Need to get them to those in District 1

Hands Off Our Vote
The 2026 midterms are less than three months away. Republicans are bent on destroying free and fair elections in every state. We view this as an emergency. All hands on deck. Polling place watchers and polling place challengers are needed in all the polling places in Dona Ana County. Please fill out this form for more information:

Chaparral Update
ILC recently met with Progressive leaders in Chaparral, NM in the southeastern part of Dona Ana County. ILC is working with leaders in the Chaparral community on the below items:
1. September 24, 2026 a bilingual Education Night to be held to talk about water usage and water reclamation from the Meta data center across the NM/TX State Line. Exact time and location TBD.

2. ILC will coordinate with Progressive leaders for a Get Out The Vote campaign before the midterm elections in November.

Upcoming General Meetings:
- September 13 – Candidate Forum: Come hear both the Dona Ana candidates for House of Representatives and Dona Ana County candidates speak on the issues. There will be time for audience Q&A so start thinking about your questions. The meeting will likely take the full two hours from 2:00 – 4:00.
- September 27 – ILC Endorsed Candidates will be announced
Reminder: At all general meetings we collect food donations (non-perishables) to top off FCC’s “The Pantry”. Donations can be dropped off on the table as you enter FCC.
